Radical Roots is based on CBD and Traditional Chinese Herbal Formulas created by practitioners of Chinese Medicine Bart Beckermann and Chloe Weber.

Radical roots was formulated with the patient in mind to help find balance, joy and increased freedom in their lives, with the ease of a single tincture. Using the treatment principles and classical herbal formulation techniques from traditional Chinese medicine Bart and Chloe potentiated the actions of both the Chinese herbs and the cannabinoid-rich hemp to greatly enhance the healing power and alleviate various ailments safely and effectively. Radical Roots formulas are created from the highest quality Chinese herbs and organically grown hemp available.

Radical Roots works closely with farmers to select the right herbs and hemp for each formula and put their patients' needs at the forefront of every decision made. Their spagyric extraction ensures that all vitamins and minerals are returned to the formulation, while fully extracting all the cannabinoids and terpenes that the plant has.

Radical Roots hemp is sourced from Pachamama farm in Longmont Colorado. From the start, these plants are tended to with love and respect. Using farming techniques that go far beyond the regulations for organic certification, their farmers use no pesticides, herbicides or fertilizer. By using a rotating crop of eight cover plants and flowers they are able to control pests, enhance the mineral content of the soil and balance the mycelium and microbial colonies.

Radical Roots Chinese herbs are sourced from Spring Wind herbs who are world renowned for having the strictest testing policies for pesticides and heavy metals and the cleanest herbs available.  Their formulas are written by Bart Beckmann L.Ac and Chloe Weber L.Ac MSTOM who have spent close to a decade studying herbs from both and Eastern and a western perspective.

Radical Roots meticulously formulated tinctures are created through spagyric extraction. This ancient alchemical extraction technique uses organic grape ethanol to extract the essence of the hemp and the herbs; creating a tincture of all the terpenes and cannabinoids as well as the phytochemicals in the hemp and herbs.  From there, the hemp and herbs will be burned at high temperatures for 6-8 hours. From the ashes, water is used to reconstitute the mineral and salt components of the plants and add them back into the tincture. From a spiritual perspective, this is joining the body and spirit, from a chemical perspective it is adding back the salts and minerals that are important co-factors to help the plant be more effective in its healing functions.  It is Whole Plant Medicine.

About Bart and Chloe

Bart Beckermann was introduced to Chinese Medicine while attending the University of Spiritual Healing and Sufism in northern California. He studied Five Element Acupuncture and Medical Qigong, graduating with a Master’s degree in Acupuncture in 2012 from Academy for Five Element Acupuncture. Having struggled with a lifetime of insomnia, anxiety and depression, and knowing how debilitating it can be, Bart quickly realized his passion for helping people who have been suffering from these illnesses and many more.Bart felt the pull to learn Chinese Herbalism and began studying Chinese Herbology at the Maryland Institute of Integrative Health, where he graduated with a Certificate of Chinese Herbology in 2014. Since then, Bart has had a private practice in NYC, treating people suffering from insomnia, anxiety, depression, chronic or acute pain, and autoimmune disease. Shortly after learning about hemp extract being used to treat non-intractable seizures in children, Parkinson's, various inflammatory diseases, chronic pain, and insomnia, Bart began using it himself and in his practice with fantastic results. Quickly realizing that no one was approaching Hemp Medicine from the perspective of an herbalist, nor combining hemp extract with Chinese Herbs, he knew that it must be done. The very next day at work, Bart approached Chloe with the idea of making medicinal formulas with Chinese Herbs and hemp extract, only to find out that she had been thinking the exact same thing. Thus began Radical Roots!

Chloe Weber developed an interest in public health and medicine after being diagnosed with Cutaneous Leishmaniasis in high school. As one of the first cases diagnosed in Costa Rica, Chloe was drawn to study Ecology and Evolutionary biology at CU Boulder where she began to understand how diseases evolve along with us and the deep connection between humans and our environment. Eventually, Chloe was drawn to Chinese medicine as a way to address public health issues. She graduated with a Masters of Oriental Medicine from Southwest Acupuncture College in Boulder and spent time studying at Heilongjiang University Hospital in Harbin, China.

After graduating, Chloe co-founded a non-profit sliding-scale walk-in Chinese herb clinic called Urban Herbs. Running her clinic Chloe was able to dive into her study of herbs and found great joy in community outreach. When Chloe’s son, Remy, was starting the journey towards diagnosis she decided to move home to New York to focus on supporting him. Chloe currently has a private practice in NYC seeing patients in Manhattan and Bellmore. Working with Remy has lead Chloe to extensively study integrative neurology and functional medicine and has motivated her to find ways to help children with neuro-developmental issues and seizures. While Remy and Chloe both felt better with the many hemp extract oils that they tried, nothing stopped Remy's seizures. Chloe felt she could create a stronger formula to help those with seizures, joined forces with Bart, and Radical Roots was born!
